Abstract: The unmanned
vehicle is still on the way to the commercial operation, the unmanned urban rail transit line has been
already used well. Indeed no driver's room and one step in place!
On March 31, 2018, Shanghai
Metro Pujiang Line was officially launched for trial operation with passengers.
The line is not only the first one in China to open the highest level of GOA4
(Grades of Automation 4) at one time, that is, it is an unattended
and fully automatic operation line since the day of opening. It is also the first urban rail transit line
with rubber tire in Shanghai. Shanghai Fuxin Intelligent Transportation
Solutions Co., Ltd. has participated in the construction of this project since
2015, providing the overall integration of signaling systems and communication .
Shanghai Metro Pujiang
Line was formerly known as the "Shanghai Rail Transit Line 8 Phase III",
which was built in 2015 and has a total length of 6.646km with 6 elevated
stations, a depot and a control center. This line is a passenger flow
collection line at the end of the backbone line, which can better cover the
large residential area of Pujiang town and provide fast and effective travel
service for the residents along the line.
This is a line with the important milestone. It uses the most advanced technology in the world and condenses the exploration spirit of Metro people for the new mode of rail transit. This line, opened in the spring of 2018, can be described as "Spring Subway" carrying us to the future.
First initiative: the first line to open the highest grade GOA4 at onetime in China.
Shanghai Metro Pujiang Line adopts the UTO mode of the fully automatic operation system. The driver cab is not provided on the train and the whole line including the depot is controlled by the control center. Not only is there no driver, crew is not arranged on the train, and the whole vehicle runs completely by the system. There are two levels of automatic driving mode: DTO and UTO (collectively known as FAO). DTO (Driverless Train Operation) is automatic operation of the train on duty ( automation level is GOA3); UTO (Unattended Train Operation) is automatic operation of unattended train (the highest automation level is GOA4)). Shanghai Metro Pujiang Line is required the opening of GOA4 at one time, which is the first case in China.
It is self-evident that the
opening of GOA4 at one time has the high requirement for system design and
project construction. Firstly, it is not enough to improve the capability of
individual subsystem , and the linkage and cooperation
capabilities among various systems (including vehicles, signals, ISCS ,
communication, PSD, etc.) are critical.. Secondly, once an emergency occurs during
the operation, the system needs a comprehensive and timely response, including
fault location, fault judgment, fault handling, failure recovery, etc. In
addition, the fully automatic operation line in UTO mode must improve the
flexibility of operation adjustment. If fault occur, it can be adjusted by
temporary turnback and bi-directional operation.
Second initiative: Shanghai's
first urban rail transit project with rubber tire system
Unlike the traditional steel wheel rail project, Shanghai Metro Pujiang Line uses a highly integrated APM rubber wheel rail system.
The rubber wheel rail is a running system which uses a rubber tire to run on a special surface and is guided by the special guide rail. It has the advantages of energy conservation, lightweight and quiet, comfortable and stable riding ,etc.
The rubber line rail system is no longer equipped with auxiliary train detection equipment. Only the signal machine is installed at the switch zone and the wayside equipment is very concise. Correspondingly, higher requirements are placed on the reliability and availability of CBTC equipment
Third initiative: Opening a
new construction mode and becoming a “turnkey project” demonstration line for
the first time with consortium bid win (vehicle + communication signal weak
current integration).
Shanghai Metro Pujiang Line
has created a new construction model, which has become the first “turnkey
project” demonstration line with consortium bid win.. As a member of the
consortium, FITSCO is responsible for the integration of signal and
communication systems. During the implementation of the project, it conquered
the key technologies such as the overall architecture of APM, system interfaces,
operation scenarios and rules, TWC, automatic driving , dispatch control, etc. ,supported
multisystem linkage functions, and solve the wireless band interference between
communication and signal. During this period, FITSCO set up a special
experimental environment and testing platform, and additionally created a new
field test mode, which shortened on-site commissioning time and laid the
foundation for the successful opening and operation.
FITSCO can fully exert the advantages of local autonomous
enterprises and play a coordinating role to help customers save construction
and operation costs, build multi-functional teams and promote the
implementation of the project efficiently and professionally.
The opening of Shanghai Metro Pujiang
Line marked the successful development of the localization and autonomy of
FITSCO's signal system after a decade and gained the commercial application successfully.
